About Our Business

      Cooter Brown's Rib Shack is a family owned and operated full service restaurant. It opened in April 2000 under its current owners Tim and Barbara Johnson. The building has always housed some type of bar. Tim and Barbara wanted to change that image somewhat and start promoting the food. After all, you can get a cold beer or a mixed drink most anywhere, but you can only get those “Great Tasting RIBS” at Cooter Brown's Rib Shack.

     From the outside, the place still looks like a county line beer joint. Those not familiar and just passing by may think that you need a knife or a gun to enter. However, once inside you’ll find a cozy, relaxing atmosphere with a friendly staff eager to serve you some of the best food in the area. Just remember that our food is AS GOOD as our building IS UGLY.

Josh hard at work...     If you like ribs you need to come by and try ours. If you don’t,  there’s plenty of other great food to choose from on the menu such as grilled chicken dinners, hot wings, sandwiches, salads, BBQ pork and more.  When you do come, just remember, this ain’t no fast food joint.  ALL our food is cooked to order so you know it’s fresh. We feel the quality and taste of our food is well worth the wait and you will too. So come on in, sit back, relax and ENJOY!!!

    Cooter Brown's Rib Shack is located approximately a quarter of a mile west of Jacksonville State University on Highway 204 in Jacksonville, Alabama.
